POSITION SUMMARY

The Paint Buffer Technician will buff and polish the paint of the fire apparatus. The Paint Buffer Technician will be responsible for removing masking tape, paint runs, and other compounds on the body of the fire apparatus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer.

Read spec book to verify information on what the unit receives Clean and remove all masking tape for the fire truck apparatus. Dry and Wet sand the paint on the body of the fire apparatus. Scrape any paint runs. Buff and polish paint of the fire apparatus to meet a high visual standard. Wipe down trucks and remove compounds as needed to make the fire truck ready for customer inspection. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.

Knowledge, Education, and/or Experience:

High school diploma/GED. Strong mechanical and technical ability required. Associates degree in autobody preferred. 2+ years of experience in autobody preferred.
Manufacturing experience preferred.

Language:

Able to read and work from blueprints/spec books. Able to read and understand a tape measure accurately. Able to follow written and verbal directions.

Math:

Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Abilities:

Able to identify quality issues, recognize changes within the production process, and adjust as needed. Able to perform simple computer tasks to obtain information/changes related to the build process and/or troubleshoot. Able to identify quality issues and recognize changes within the production process and make adjustments. Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines. Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment. Able to understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for all.
