Essential skills



1. RPA Tool Expertise



Strong hands-on experience with at least one major RPA platform:



UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, or Power Automate



Ability to design, build, and deploy automation workflows.



2. Programming & Scripting Knowledge



Understanding of at least one programming/scripting language such as:



C#, VB.NET, Python, or JavaScript



Basic SQL skills for data access and manipulation.



3. Process Analysis & Design



Ability to analyze business processes and identify automation opportunities.



Proficiency in creating Process Design Documents (PDD) and Solution Design Documents (SDD).



Strong understanding of workflow logic, exception handling, and error management.



4. System & Application Knowledge



Experience integrating automation with web, desktop, Excel, email, and ERP systems (e.g., SAP).



Familiarity with APIs and data formats (JSON, XML).



5. Testing & Deployment



Ability to perform unit testing, UAT support, and manage bot deployment to production.



Understanding of version control (Git, SVN) and CI/CD principles.



Responsibilities



1. Requirement Gathering & Analysis



Collaborate with business analysts and process owners to identify automation opportunities.



Analyze existing business processes to assess automation feasibility and ROI.



Participate in requirement workshops and document process understanding.



2. Solution Design



Design end-to-end automation solutions based on defined business requirements.



Prepare and maintain Process Design Documents (PDDs) and Solution Design Documents (SDDs).



Ensure scalable, efficient, and maintainable design of automation workflows.



3. Development & Configuration



Develop, configure, and test RPA bots using platforms such as UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, or Power Automate.



Implement error handling, logging, and exception management within workflows.



Integrate bots with databases, APIs, and other enterprise applications.



4. Testing & Deployment



Perform unit testing, support UAT, and troubleshoot defects.



Deploy bots into production environments in coordination with IT teams.



Validate performance and accuracy of automated processes.



5. Maintenance & Support



Monitor bot performance and resolve production issues.



Perform regular updates and enhancements to existing automations.



Ensure proper version control and documentation of all automation assets.



6. Compliance & Best Practices



Follow coding standards, security, and governance guidelines.



Maintain confidentiality and compliance with organizational policies.



Ensure auditability and proper change management for all automation workflows.



7. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement



Work closely with business, IT, and QA teams to ensure smooth project execution.



Identify and suggest opportunities for process optimization and continuous improvement.



Stay updated with new RPA trends, tools, and technologies.

Qualifications:

Degree (or equivalent qualification), ideally in a numerate or computing related subject OR, equivalent business/working experience.



Background in Mathematics or Engineering will also be advantageous.



Ideally ISEB/ISTQB qualified.
