GENERAL SUMMARY: Assists the cardiologist in a variety of invasive and noninvasive procedures including (but not limited to) cardiac catheterizations, pacemaker implants, cardioversions, tilt table tests, electrophysiology procedures, ablations, implantable cardiac defibrillator implants, and percutaneous coronary interventions. Prepares patients for procedures, provides education and care according to age specific criteria. Prepares and starts intravenous injections and administers medications. Ensures the care, safety, comfort and satisfaction of the patient throughout the duration of their visit. Actively participates in a variety of operational and clinical activities to ensure department compliance with hospital and regulatory standards. Participates in emergency, off shift, on-call rotations to provide 24/7 coverage including weekends and holidays. Performs duties in accordance with the mission, vision and service excellence standards of the organization.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE:

Education

• Licensure of RN

Licensure

• RN (Michigan)

Training and Experience

• ACLS required. BCLS required.
• Six to twelve months experience on med-surg floor or equivalent
• Previous cardiac cath lab or CCU experience is preferred

Job Knowledge

• Good understanding of cardiac anatomy and physiology.
• Thorough understanding of principles of EKG, arrhythmias, pressure waveforms.
• Experience in intravenous set-up and thorough knowledge of cardiac medications.
• Ability to recognize and analyze anatomical and pathological abnormalities common to age specific criteria.
