This Travel Unit Manager role focuses on Utilization Management within a skilled nursing and long-term care environment. The RN UM will complete utilization reviews, verify medical necessity criteria, and ensure appropriate level-of-care determinations in alignment with payer and regulatory guidelines. The role supports efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and collaborative discharge planning.
This is a Monday-Friday daytime schedule with guaranteed weekly hours. Candidates should have strong assessment skills, clinical knowledge, and prior experience in UM, UR, or case management.
Responsibilities
Conduct utilization reviews for medical necessity and level-of-care requirements.
Review and validate clinical documentation for completeness and regulatory compliance.
Coordinate with insurance payers for authorizations and continued stay reviews.
Support discharge planning and address barriers to care with the interdisciplinary team.
Maintain timely, accurate documentation for all UM activities.
Communicate effectively with staff, providers, and external payers.
Requirements
Active RN license (state or compact).
Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience.
Prior Utilization Review, Utilization Management, or Case Management experience strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of payer criteria and regulatory standards.
Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and documentation skills.
