Provides direct patient care to patients in intra-operative setting using the nursing process. Is responsible for managing the care of assigned patients and coping with rapid case turnover and directing activities of ancillary staff. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to patients of all age ranges.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program or will obtain prior to working as a RN
Licensure:
Current Georgia RN or a multi-state license meeting eNLC criteria professional licensure or will obtain prior to beginning work as a RN. BLS CPR required
Experience:
Previous surgical experience preferred. Minimum of one year nursing experience in acute care setting preferred or will be a graduate of a peri-operative training program.
Skills:
Finger and hand dexterity. Ability to obtain and interpret pertinent information in terms of the patients needs. Ability to select proper instrumentation/supplies appropriate for the procedure being performed and the age group of the patient served.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Prolonged walking and standing required, with the ability to lift and move patients. Ability to tolerate rapid patient turnover and high census. Works in typical surgery setting with patients experiencing a wide range of surgical procedures and anesthetics. Required to take call, with some late day assignments requested. Ability to effectively cope with acute emergency situations.
