PROFILE REVIEW + MANAGER INTERVIEW
of Beds: 25 licensed beds; currently 3 Adult Beds and 6 Adolescent Beds
Nurse:Patient Ratios: 3:1 Adult currently (could get up to 7 patients); 6:1 Adolescent
Patient Populations/Common Diagnoses: Adolescents and Adults; common diagnoses include depression, anxiety, substance abuse (ETOH, other substances), psychosis, bipolar, schizophrenia, behavioral/personality disorders, rare opioid withdrawal, medically cleared
Experience or Must-Have Skills: acute/inpatient or state hospital experience, good de-escalation and communication skills, OK with first-time travelers, prefer adolescent experience
IVs on Unit: very rare; travelers not required to have IV experience
Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Not always; duties covered; travelers not usually expected to be charge
Restraints: mechanical restraints (rarely) and seclusion
Nurse Aids/Mental Health Specialists: mental health techs/aids; qualify for 2 if unit full at 9 patients; occupational therapy M-F, OT assistant, social work
RT Availability: RT in house; assists with oxygen, CPAP, BiPAP
Tele/Monitor Techs: No
Shifts & Scheduling: 7a-7p, 7p-7a; 7a-3p, 3p-11p, 11p-7a; self-scheduling based on seniority; union hospital; block scheduling if able
Weekend Requirements: Every other
Holiday Requirements: Every other
Call/Standby: n/a
Floating Requirements: throughout hospital as helping hands or 1:1s
Scrub Color/Dress Code: any color except maroon; business casual allowed
Orientation: 2 twelve-hour shifts
Additional Notes: only child/adolescent inpatient unit in region; locked unit; 4th floor; emergency buttons for code blue and code yellow; security and life safety desk; nurses expected to be highly involved (15-min rounds, active care)
