Department Overview

The PIMC provides Intermediate level care for Medical/Surgical patients 0-18 years of age, excluding obstetric patients. Populations served include non-ICU Neurosurgical, Video EEG and spectrum scan Peritoneal Dialysis, Chronic trach/ventilated patients, Select Hyperbilirubinemia, Select Cardiac Surgery, and Research Patients, complex post \xe2\x80\x93op patients including orthopedic spine patients, crani\xe2\x80\x99s, and bladder augmentations.

Function/Duties of Position

Night shift position with a 12.5% differential on top of base wage.

The OHSU Clinical registered nurse (RN) provides compassionate, evidence-based, and efficient care to individuals, families, communities and patient populations. The Clinical RN\xe2\x80\x99s care delivery is consistent with the Oregon Nurse Practice Act, the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics. The Clinical RN demonstrates the professional role obligations of scientist, leader, practitioner, and knowledge transferor [Onsomble Model of the Professional Role\xe2\x84\xa2]. Professional accountability enriches the Clinical RN\xe2\x80\x99s engagement as a leader in promoting an inter-professional culture of collaborative decision-making, innovation, life-long learning, and teamwork. Working Conditions:

• Ability to lift, bend, stoop, reach, carry, push, pull and walk throughout the work period. Able to lift 35 lbs independently. Complies with the safe patient mobilization policy when lifting or positioning dependent patients, including using mechanical lifts and coordinating the assistance of other personnel.
• Must be able to use all senses: seeing, hearing, touching, smelling, and speaking. Reasonable accommodations include corrective lenses and/or hearing aids

• The work environment carries risk of exposure to human tissue/fluids and radiation.
• Must be able to deal with competing needs and priorities of internal and external customers, including making correct judgments regarding ensuring safe conditions for patients, families, and other personnel.

Required Qualifications

• BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.
• ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date.

• Associate Degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire

• Internal ONA applicants: Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN preferred
• Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License
• BLS and PALS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA (upload documentation with online application)
• BLS and PALS must not expire during orientation
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation

Preferred Qualifications

• Current OHSU employees: BSN preferred
• Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN)

Additional Details

Usual Orientation Time:

• New Grads \xe2\x80\x93 10 to 12 weeks
• Specialty Experience \xe2\x80\x93 1 to 2 weeks
• Experience, but not in specialty area- 4 weeks
• Resource - 4 weeks
