Job Description


4E is a 24 bed Med/Surg unit at Blodgett Hospital that cares for the general medical and surgical patients. Nurses are often drawn to 4E for the variety of patients and the team environment. Our staff become competent in caring for a large array of both surgical and medical patients. Specifically, our team is known as being experts in nasogastric tubes, urinary catheters, and urologic care, managing enteral and parenteral feeding, and managing the care of wounds, ostomies, tubes and drains.

RNs deliver nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Nursing
  • Bachelor\'s Degree of Science in Nursing must be obtained within 5 years for those who start in this RN role on or after January 1, 2017
  • Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program
  • Registered Nurse (RN) State of Michigan - Upon Hire
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - Within 90 Days of hire
Preferred Qualifications
  • Clinical Area of Specialty Certification
  • 6 months of RN experience
