Overview:
Provides administrative and clinical leadership and to plan, coordinate, and manage personnel and resources in order to provide the highest quality of patient care with trained, professional, and competent staff. Collaborates with physicians and other health care disciplines to assure optimal patient care outcomes within the Progressive Care Unit. Coordinate and facilitate the stroke program for the facility with the purpose of optimizing the care of the stroke patient. Oversee staff and operations of Neurosciences clinics.
Responsibilities:
Monitor productivity, operating reports and benchmark data
Ensure that the staffing requirements are planned, appropriate and consistent.
Participate in budget planning in collaboration with the department director
Advocate for appropriate fiscal and human resources to accomplish the work and goals of the nursing department.
Facilitate and ensure coordination of department services with other nursing and ancillary departments.
Coordinate the associate selection process.
Monitor associate turnover and vacancy and develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies.
Assumes leadership for achieving and maintaining Stroke Certification.
Serves as the primary resource for the stroke program.
Serves as the leader of the multidisciplinary stroke team.
Evaluates current literature and develops protocols and processes that are evidence based.
Evaluate compliance with stroke care standards and the team's performance against established benchmarks.
Assesses learning needs and provides programs to support staff knowledge and improve clinical performance.
Develops stroke program goals and objectives in conjunction with the Medical Director, Director of Critical Care and other members of the stroke team.
Ensure compliance with regulatory/accrediting bodies and agencies.
Analyze and use benchmark data from internal and external sources
Identify opportunities for quality and cost containment improvements
Involve associates in the development of new processes as appropriate.
Support staff participation of quality improvement activities through established systems, advisory councils and clinical quality committees.
Support staff in developing and maintaining competency through orientation, internships, educational offerings, workshops, interdisciplinary professional meetings and self-directed learning.
Maintain and analyze data
Assure staff development activities offered on the unit is of high quality and meet the needs of unit staff.
Oversee operational leadership of Neuroscience departments.
Assess and impact productivity, expenses, and Provider revenue.
