GENERAL SUMMARY

+ The RN - Intake Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations related to donor intake of the Human Milk Bank. Responsibilities include but are not limited to coordinating and evaluating the screening of milk donors based on national requirements, facilitating intake of donor human milk, maintaining database, and community outreach to encourage continued human milk donations. Reports to department leadership.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

+ Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Human Milk Bank intake process.
+ Facilitates communication between milk bank, donors and medical practices.
+ Accurately reviews, updates and maintains thorough donor records from initial intake through retirement.
+ Enters and reviews results of donor serum screening testing.
+ Assigns donor deferrals and provides both donor and staff education.
+ Reviews donors for final approval.
+ Aides in processing of outpatient requests.
+ Serves as a resource for community.
+ Works with Human Milk Bank Director to market Milk Bank at community events.
+ Assists in the development of communication strategies for marketing of Donor Human Milk Bank.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

+ Current Virginia state license as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse holding a valid Compact State license.
+ Lactation certification preferred.
+ Basic food handling certificate within 90 days of hire.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

+ Must have an Associates in Nursing/Diploma in Nursing with applicable experience. BSN is preferred.
+ Experience with motivational interviewing, patient screening and education, marketing, public relations, data collection, and database management preferred.
+ Possesses excellent leadership, written and oral communication, and analytical skills with the ability to plan, establish and maintain a professional work environment.
+ Must possess strong organizational skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS

+ Milk bank pasteurization area with exposure to cleaning chemicals and human milk.
