o No Trauma Designation


o Teaching Hospital


o Not a Chest Pain Center


o Not a Stroke Center

Unit Information:

o ED Beds: 23


Census? Average patients/day? 90 patients/day average


o Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years ED RN experience


o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

o

Community hospital We see all ages and diagnoses

o Common ED Diagnoses: minor Trauma, Cardiac events, Stroke, Respiratory illnesses, GI disorders and infections, Mental Health, IVDA/ETOH withdrawal, etc.

Required Licensure & Certifications:

o BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS Resource Team requirement

Skills required:

o

General ED skillset

PIV starts,trauma stabilization, procedural sedation, cardiac rhythm interpretation, Stroke assessment and care

,

critical care drips


o Ultrasound IV placement

Support within the Department:

o CNA? Duties? Support staff


o Receptionist/HUC? 24/7 Unit Secretary


o Charge nurse? 24/7 Charge Nurse with no patient assignment.


o Phlebotomy? ED Staff performs phlebotomy


o IV/VAT Team? No phlebotomy team. Lab staff can assist for difficult blood draw


o Resource Nurse? We utilize system Resource Nurse Float Pool staff as well as internal DMC float pool staff


o RT 24/7? Yes


o Hospitalist 24/7? Yes


o Intensivist 24/7? No


o Telemetry monitoring/tech? No

o EMR: EPIC Encompass (ASAP module for ER)
