Department Overview

Five ambulatory oncology infusion rooms located in the Portland metro area. Chair/bed number ranges from 10-15 depending on site. Provide care to both Oncology and non-Oncology patients. Open 7 days a week including holidays and weekends.The OHSU Clinical registered nurse (RN) provides compassionate, evidence-based, and efficient care to individuals, families, communities and patient populations.

Function/Duties of Position

The OHSU Clinical registered nurse (RN) provides compassionate, evidence-based, and efficient care to individuals, families, communities, and patient populations. The Clinical RN\'s care delivery is consistent with the Oregon Nurse Practice Act, the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics. The Clinical RN demonstrates the professional role obligations of scientist, leader, and knowledge transferor [Onsomble Model of the Professional Role\xe2\x84\xa2]. Required Qualifications

  • ADN acceptable if RN meets all other preferred candidate qualifications (2+ years Oncology with 5+ years nursing, OCN)
  • External applicants- BSN from an accredited school required
  • Current OHSU employees- BSN preferred
  • Completion of ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy administration certification during orientation.
  • Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English
  • Basic computer skilss including the abilitty to send/receive email, navigate information technology associated with the position and use EHR information and tools.
  • Current encumbered Oregon RN license
  • Current BLS required at time of hire (American Heart Association)
  • Record, track and assign duties and processes to ensure appropriate billing and revenue generation, when applicable
  • Facilitate care coordination with other providers and services to complement ambulatory Oncology care and meet holistic needs of the patient and family
Preferred Qualifications
  • ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Card
  • Recent Experience working in ambulatory Hematology/Oncology preferred.
  • Recent Experience working in inpatient Oncology
  • IV access proficiency. Experience working with Central Lines, Port-a-cath.

New Grads: N/A

Specialty Experience: 4 - 6 weeks

Experience, but not in specialty area: 6-8 weeks
