UUSA, operated by Louisiana Energy Services LLC, is the only commercial enrichment facility operating in the US, and is located in Eunice, New Mexico.
Position Summary:
The Risk Manager will lead and coordinate risk management activities for multiple capital construction projects at Urenco's Eunice, New Mexico uranium enrichment facility. This role is responsible for identifying, analyzing, mitigating, and monitoring project risks across scope, cost, schedule, safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
The Risk Manager will work closely with project management, engineering, construction, cost controls, and leadership teams to proactively manage uncertainty and protect project objectives within a highly regulated nuclear environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Risk Management
Develop, implement, and maintain project risk management plans in alignment with Urenco standards and industry best practices.
Facilitate risk identification workshops and ongoing risk reviews with project teams and stakeholders.
Maintain and manage project risk and opportunity registers.
Assess probability, impact, and severity of risks across cost, schedule, scope, safety, and compliance.
Risk Analysis & Reporting
Perform qualitative and quantitative risk analyses, including schedule and cost risk assessments as required.
Support contingency and reserve planning in coordination with Project Controls and Finance.
Prepare clear risk reports, dashboards, and summaries for project and senior leadership.
Track risk trends, emerging risks, and effectiveness of mitigation strategies.
Mitigation & Decision Support
Work with project teams to develop and implement risk mitigation and response plans.
Monitor execution of mitigation actions and escalate issues as needed.
Support scenario planning and decision-making related to high-impact or critical risks.
Integration with Project Controls
Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Schedulers, and Cost Controllers to ensure risks are integrated into cost forecasts and schedules.
Support alignment between risk exposure, contingency usage, and performance reporting.
Compliance & Governance
Ensure risk management practices comply with company policies, contract requirements, and regulatory expectations applicable to a nuclear facility.
Support internal and external audits, reviews, and assurance activities.
Maintain documentation and audit trails appropriate for a highly regulated environment.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Risk Management, or a related field is preferred.
5 to 20+ years of experience in project risk management, preferably supporting large capital or construction projects.
Strong understanding of project risk management methodologies and tools.
Experience working in regulated or safety-critical environments.
Ability to facilitate workshops and communicate risk information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
Proficiency with risk management, project controls, and reporting tools.
Experience in nuclear, energy, chemical, or other highly regulated industrial facilities is preferred.
Familiarity with construction of complex industrial or infrastructure projects.
Experience performing quantitative risk analysis (cost and/or schedule).
Professional certification such as PMI-RMP, PMP, or similar is a plus.
Knowledge of NRC-regulated environments or nuclear fuel-cycle facilities is a strong plus.
