Ideal Attributes
Certified CPC, COSC and/or CPMA (AAPC or AHIMA)
Physician Charge Coding ( CPT, HCPC and ICD-10)
Experience with Infusion Billing
Representative Duties
Reviews notes from infusion encounters and codes them according to the documentation (assigns accurate CPT, HCPC and ICD-10 codes)
Posts charges when needed for services rendered
Audits chart documentation for quality purposes to ensure that provider coding and documentation is synchronous- provides communication of audit findings to department leadership as directed by management
Makes judicious decisions on which codes to assign in each instance, and function to a high level of accuracy
Introduces changes in procedure; CPT, HCPC and ICD-10 codes and educates staff on the use of new codes
Liaising with physicians and other parties in a professional and courteous manner to clarify information
Advises and trains physicians and staff on medical coding as requested by department leadership
Be familiar with Infusions, Injections, as well as Rheumatology physician services coding and chart documentation requirement
Job Requirements
Active Certified Professional Coding Certificate
Two (2) years of current coding experience (outpatient physician services)
Two (2) years of Evaluation and Management (E&M) services coding
Passed ICD-10 proficiency exam
FLSA status: Non-exempt
