Economy Hardware + Homeware | Sales Associate

Economy Hardware is a 76 year old, locally owned, essential hardware/homeware store, located in the heart of Boston. As a store we offer a wide range of products for city living - we are much more than just hardware.

Working at a small business requires a strong work ethic, and a flexible mindset. A great thing about working at a "smaller" company - you matter! Economy has a strong history of being a supportive and collaborative team with opportunities for growth and advancement within our team.

All team members are trained to know a bit about everything, including cashiering, mixing paint, cutting keys, merchandising, and shipment stocking. This is an in- person job and does require working on your feet for the duration of your shift.

Responsibilities

Friendly and approachable demeanor Strong customer service skills Comfortable learning how to cut keys, mixing paint, stocking using ladders Able to complete daily tasks such as but not limited to, stocking and organizing products, keeping our shopping space neat and tidy Knowledge of tools and hardware (preferred but not required - we'll help you learn!) Reliable and team-oriented attitude Flexible availability (weekends and evenings), 15-30 hours a week

Experience

Prior retail sales experience is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for learning is key! Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse customer bases effectively. Familiarity with POS systems, cashiering procedures, and retail math ensures smooth transaction handling. Strong customer service skills combined with excellent phone etiquette contribute to building trust and loyalty with shoppers.
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 - 30 per week
