Position Summary

The Retail Customer Experience Specialist (RCES) is a part-time position that serves as the first point of contact to assist handling customer inquiries via phone, email, and in person. The RCES supports the daily operations of the Resource Center/shops filled with exciting merchandise and necessary Girl Scout apparel. Compensation

The hourly range rate of pay is $15.00-16.50 commensurate with experience and skillset.

What You\'ll Do

  • Assist customers in their selection and purchase of merchandise, including phone and e-mail orders while providing quality service to both internal and external customers.
  • Listen closely to understand needs or concerns while taking pride to provide clear, helpful information.
  • Empathizes with communities we serve and will put customers at ease, even when there are cultural or communication differences.
  • Coordinate aspects of membership and program registration.
  • Preserve a customer-centric environment in public areas of council facilities.
  • Maintain contact center database by entering information accurately and quickly.
  • Use of point-of-sale systems in processing cash register sales and monies to support council functions.
  • Track inventory and receipt of merchandise to ensure that appropriate stock levels are sustained.
  • Prepare reports that support the resource center functions and other council departments.
  • Engage in learning to build skills towards respectfully interacting with people across cultures, ranges of ability, genders, ethnicities, and races.
  • Provide back-up administrative support across all departments as needed.

  • Willingness to subscribe to the philosophy of the Girl Scout Program and enroll as a Girl Scout member which includes paying a nominal membership fee annually.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including daytime and/or some evening and occasional weekend hours.
  • The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is required to sit and/or stand for long periods and operate office equipment manually. The employee must be able to routinely lift 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Have daily access to dependable transportation, valid driver\'s license, compliance with the council\'s policy of automobile insurance limits, and a driving record that meets the requirements for coverage of the council\'s business auto insurance carrier.
Who You Are & Keys to Success
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to coach and develop high-performance teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Power Point, Word, and Excel.
  • Familiarity in a Customer Service/Sales/Retail or other applicable software platform OR One to three years\' experience with computerized cash register operation. (this is what was listed in the Retail Customer service roles)
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and some weekends.
  • Valid driver\'s license with use of own vehicle is required for travel throughout council jurisdiction up to 50% of the time.
  • Compliance with the council\'s policy of automobile insurance limits, and a driving record that meets the requirements for coverage of the council\'s business auto insurance carrier in order to drive to the multiple sites.
  • Willingness to subscribe to the philosophy of the Girl Scout program and joining as a Girl Scout member which includes paying a membership fee, either annually or as a life-time member.
  • The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee should be able to withstand operate office equipment manually and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Willing to hear, reflect, act on, and learn from feedback regarding identity and equity.
  • 3+ years of experience in retail sales.
  • Customer-service oriented with the ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner with a wide range of people.
  • Ability to exercise discretion when handling potentially confidential or sensitive matters.
  • Excellent time management skills; ability to take initiative to solve problems and work with a minimum of supervision and function well as a member of a team.
  • Accurate, organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to work under pressure and shift priorities in response to changing needs.
These Skills are a Plus
  • Proficient in Salesforce, Looker software platforms.
  • Two plus years of managerial experience in a retail or similar environment.
  • Bachelor\'s or higher or equivalent experience with four years of directly related work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in retail sales.
