The Oasis at Death Valley is situated in a lush, spring-fed desert oasis, surrounded by the vast and arid desert of Death Valley National Park. The Oasis operates the historic AAA Four Diamond Inn and Ranch, restaurants, gift shops, and the world's lowest elevation golf course. Both hotels are open year-round and feature swimming pools fed by naturally warm local springs.

Job Summary:
Responsible for taking food and beverage orders and providing high level guest service while efficiently and courteously serving our valued dining room patrons. This position is full-time year-round.
The Details:
Position Type: Year-Round
Start Dates: As soon as possible on next available check in date (approximately three weeks)
Pay: $17.10/hr.
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities

• Welcome and great guests. Assist in making and recommending food choices from the menu.
• Inform guests of specials and menu changes/deletions.
• Answer questions in a professional and courteous manner.
• Take food and beverage orders from guests, enter orders in our point-of-sale system, deliver food and beverages from the kitchen and bar to guests in a timely manner.
• Continually follow-up with guests regarding food and dining experience. Respond quickly and politely to guest requests.
• Strictly adhere to all guest check/cash handling policies and procedures as outlined in Xanterra and Oasis policies and procedures.
• Perform all side work and assigned duties efficiently and with goodwill, good spirit and team work.
• Maintain open communication with the server assistants and the Restaurant Manager.
• Maintain clean service areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• At least 1-3 years front of house restaurant experience required.
• Excellent customer service skills when dealing with guests and employees.
• Must be well groomed and have excellent personal hygiene.
• Must be able to write legibly and communicate clearly.
• Must possess basic math skills and money handling skills.
• Must possess or obtain a California Food Handler's Card within 30 days of hire. On-site training is available.
• Must possess or obtain a TIPS certification for servers of alcohol within 30 days of hire. On-site training is available.

Physical Demands

• Physically able to work standing for eight hours, and must have the endurance to function in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. up to shoulder height.
• Must be able to withstand working in extreme outdoor summer temperatures.
• Frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, twist, reach, and grasp.
• Will be required to work in a refrigerated walk-in cooler with temperatures between 35-45 degrees.
