Job Description

Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of the server is to provide friendly and efficient service to guests dining in the hotel's 1869 Room restaurant. In addition, they are responsible for collecting payment for all food and beverage items purchased by a guest. The server is responsible for pre-setting the restaurant, serving meal courses, maintaining their work station, clearing and sanitizing all tables before and after each meal.

Experience & Education

1-3 years of experience in a food & beverage outlet preferred Experience in hospitality a plus High School diploma or equivalent preferred ServSafe or Tips certification a plus

Essential Duties & Functions:

Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware Perform food preparation duties such as preparing salads, appetizers, and cold dishes, portioning desserts, and brewing coffee Complete all side work and cleaning duties as described in the hotel's food & beverage policies and procedures Have full knowledge of entire menu, as well as daily specials, desserts, etc . Present menus to guests and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods Describe and recommend wines to customers; bringing wine selections to tables with appropriate glasses, and pour the wines for customers Write guest food orders on order slips, memorize orders, and enter into computer for transmittal for kitchen staff

Requirements:

Ability to work with various pieces of equipment such as a cash register, credit card authorization machines, carpet sweeper/vacuum, broom, various beverage dispensing machines and other dining room equipment Ability to work under variable temperatures and noise levels Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time Must be effect at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $3.26 - $10.00 per hour
