The primary responsibility of the host is to facilitate the prompt and accurate seating of all guests. They are responsible for assisting the waitstaff in serving guests, collecting payment, making change, and assuring the dining room is running efficiently. The host must be organized and have the ability to work under pressure, while being able to prioritize seating arrangement. He or she must be able to multitask and keep busy at all times.
Experience & Education:
Experience in hospitality a plus, previous experience in restaurant setting preferred
High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Essential Duties & Functions:
Assign patrons to tables suitable for their needs
Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware
Inspect dining and serving areas to ensure cleanliness and proper set up
Greet and seat guests at appropriate tables in a timely manner
Provide guests with menus
Speak with patrons to ensure satisfaction with food and service and to respond to complaints
Maintain contact with kitchen staff, management, and serving staff to ensure that dining details are handled properly
Assist with bussing dishes, side work and or keeping a tidy appearance in the outlet as necessary
Requirements:
Ability to work with various pieces of equipment such as touch screen monitor, printer, credit card authorization machines, and other dining room equipment
Ability to stand and/or walk for lengthy periods of time
Ability to work under variable noise levels
Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests
