The Resource Development Specialist provides essential support to the organization's fundraising and development efforts, with a strong emphasis on relationship-based fundraising and community engagement. This role assists in implementing strategies to engage donors, secure funding, and build strong relationships with supporters throughout Jackson County and the Rogue Valley.
Key responsibilities include supporting individual giving campaigns, grant research and application processes, donor stewardship, event coordination, marketing and communications support, and general development administration. The Specialist works closely with the Resource Development team, Board members, and community partners to help achieve the organization's philanthropic goals while ensuring a positive and meaningful donor experience.

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
A primary responsibility of all persons assigned to this job title is to support the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Rogue Valley and to promote positive youth development and donor relationships. This position serves as a leader in identifying and creating opportunities to build the Club's base of support.
The Resource Development Specialist meets the goals and objectives outlined in the "Contributions" section of the annual Resource Development Plan by assisting the Development Director in managing staff, volunteers, and activities necessary to generate income and increase positive communications through year-round campaigns, program sponsorships, and program grants targeting businesses, individuals, civic groups, foundations, and media organizations.

Relationships - Internal
Serves as a staff member on the Resource Development & Communications Committee, supporting annual campaigns, grant writing, and marketing initiatives via social media, media releases, advertisements, and email communications, with special emphasis on Jackson County Clubs and donor relationships
Collaborates with volunteers and committee chairs to develop and implement the annual Resource Development & Communications Plan
Actively participates as a member of the BGCRV Leadership Team
Leads the Jackson County Fundraising Committee, composed of Board members and community representatives
Relationships - External
Builds and maintains strategic relationships with donors, prospects, community and business leaders, funders, foundations, media, and community organizations throughout Jackson County
Develops partnerships with other youth-serving organizations to create collaborative opportunities that best serve Club members
Donor Cultivation and Solicitation
Assists in planning and implementing relationship-based fundraising strategies for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual, corporate, foundation, and major donors in alignment with the annual Resource Development Plan by:
Researching and identifying prospective donors and funding opportunities
Preparing reports and development proposal packages
Supporting and training the Board of Directors and Resource Development Committee to cultivate prospects and participate in face-to-face donor engagement
Supporting the creation of annual appeals, thank-you letters, and stewardship communications throughout the year
Guiding committee members in achieving local fundraising goals in collaboration with their community networks
Grants
Assists in planning and managing the grant proposal process for securing funds from foundations and government entities, including research, writing, submission, and reporting
Works closely with the Development Director, Program Directors, and Resource Development Committee to identify suitable projects and funding strategies
Ensures narrative and data-driven grant reporting is completed accurately and on time in accordance with funder requirements
Other Development Efforts
Assists in leading the Resource Development Committee in developing the annual Resource Development & Communications Plan
Assists in managing fundraising campaigns, including the Annual and End-of-Year Campaigns
Supports planned giving efforts, including correspondence, materials, promotion, presentations, and stewardship
Assists in managing development systems and record keeping, including:
Tracking contribution income
Maintaining donor data and records
Recognizing contributions according to established donor stewardship practices
Evaluates the effectiveness of development activities and collaborates on strategy adjustments as needed
Assists in creating and managing the development budget
Works with leadership to create sponsorship portfolios for use with businesses and community partners
Makes presentations to civic groups, businesses, and organizations
Supports additional development-related needs as assigned
Marketing / Communications Efforts
Assists in increasing public awareness of Club programs, activities, and events through marketing and public relations efforts, including:
Media releases
Print, radio, television, and web advertising
Social media and website content
Assists in producing marketing and communications materials throughout the year
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS
Education equivalent to completion of a Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, with a minimum of two years of directly related experience.
Local Connection Valued:
Familiarity with Jackson County and the Rogue Valley community is a strong plus. Existing relationships with local businesses, civic organizations, or nonprofits are welcomed but not required.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Requires project-based supervision of volunteers and staff as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Most work is performed in an office or recreation facility environment, working closely with others
Occasional work in noisy environments for up to 8 hours per day
Regular professional work outside the office at fundraising events and community meetings
Flexible scheduling, including occasional evenings and weekends, balanced with schedule flexibility when possible
Hybrid remote work available; in-person presence required for community engagement and events
Reliable transportation required for travel between Club locations and events
Ability to walk, sit, or stand for up to 8 hours
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, including stooping, crouching, reaching, and handling materials
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Ability to plan, organize, and implement projects associated with annual fundraising campaigns
Experience supervising staff and supporting volunteers
Strong grant writing and proposal development skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Professional appearance with a positive, enthusiastic, and collaborative approach
Ability to prepare, analyze, and interpret reports
Experience working with traditional media and social media platforms
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range:
$55,000-$65,000
