The Resource Development Officer is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating all fundraising and development activities that support the mission of the Boys & Girls Club of Carlsbad. This role focuses on donor cultivation, grant writing, fundraising events, marketing, and strategic partnerships to ensure sustainable revenue growth. The Resource Development Officer works closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors, and community partners to strengthen the Club's financial resources and visibility.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Donor Relations
Develop and execute an annual resource development plan to meet fundraising goals and organizational priorities.
Cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
Maintain accurate donor records, manage acknowledgment processes, and ensure timely communication with supporters.
Create and manage donor engagement opportunities, including tours, recognition events, and impact updates.
Grant Writing & Management
Research, write, and submit grant proposals for public and private funding opportunities.
Track grant deadlines, reporting requirements, and deliverables to ensure compliance and timely submissions.
Collaborate with program and finance staff to gather data, budgets, and outcome information for proposals and reports.
Marketing & Communications
Oversee the creation of marketing materials, including newsletters, social media content, press releases, and impact stories.
Ensure consistent messaging that reflects the mission, values, and brand standards of the Boys & Girls Club of Carlsbad.
Strengthen community awareness through targeted outreach, media relations, and digital engagement strategies.
Special Events & Campaigns
Plan and manage fundraising events, donor appreciation gatherings, and annual giving campaigns.
Coordinate logistics, sponsorships, volunteer involvement, and promotional materials for all events.
Track event performance, attendance, and revenue outcomes.
Community & Stakeholder Engagement
Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, civic organizations, schools, and community partners.
Represent the Club at networking events, community meetings, and partnership activities.
Support Board members with donor engagement, stewardship activities, and committee participation.
Administrative & Development Operations
Maintain donor databases, tracking systems, and reporting tools.
Prepare development reports for the CEO, Board of Directors, and grant funders.
Adhere to ethical fundraising practices and ensure confidentiality of donor information.
QualificationsEducation & Experience
Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, grant writing, or nonprofit development.
Experience with donor database systems (e.g., DonorPerfect, Salesforce, Bloomerang, MyClubHub) preferred.
Familiarity with Boys & Girls Club programs and youth development is a plus.
Skills & Competencies
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives.
Excellent relationship-building and networking abilities.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Knowledge of fundraising best practices, grant processes, and community engagement strategies.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, social media platforms, and basic graphic design tools.
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
