Job Duties





Resilience specialist job duties include, but are not limited to:


Schedule, organize, and support facilitation for committees, subcommittees, workgroup, and stakeholder meetings. Distribute and support development of the quarterly newsletter, website content, and other public communications. Conduct data entry and management of the stakeholder contact management system, distribution lists, and projects and initiatives inventory. Develop, compile, and analyze tabular and geospatial flood data to support metrics tracking and create figures, maps, and web-based tools to communicate quantitative information to stakeholders. Monitor, schedule, and track contractor coordination and support deliverable review and invoice processing. Conduct research to support the office, distribute information, and coordinate actions across office and agency staff.

Minimum Qualifications




General working knowledge of office business management practices or work history which demonstrates experience supporting administrative processes and ability to organize, evaluate, and handle high volume, fast-paced business operations workflow. Ability to plan and coordinate meetings or events. Demonstrated ability to compile and analyze quantitative data in tabular and geospatial formats. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with advanced writing, visual, and verbal skills in a professional manner. Experience with data visualization, including to create figures, maps, and other visual graphics. Considerable experience creating, formatting, and editing documents and ensuring grammatical correctness of documents.

Additional Considerations




Experience with ArcGIS Pro/ArcGIS Online, including Dashboards, Experience Builder, and/or StoryMaps. Experience with Microsoft 365, including Lists, Planner, and Power BI. Familiarity with federal, state, and local flooding-related challenges, policy, planning, projects and funding. Familiarity with Virginia's state, regional, and local government roles and responsibilities.

Wage/seasonal positions are not eligible for Commonwealth of Virginia benefits (health care, paid leave, etc.) and are limited to 1,500 hours from May 1 to April 30.
