Job Description

The Juvenile Residential Center of Northwest Ohio is a secure residential treatment facility that serves as a dispositional option for the Juvenile Court. Utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Interventions, JRCNWO's mission is to assist youth and their families in making positive changes that contribute to improved functioning in the home environment while protecting the community. In collaboration with Courts, families, and other outside service providers, the facility seeks to individualize each youth's treatment and enhance their pro-social development.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSTION: Counselor

Purpose of Position

The purpose of this position is to coordinate and provide treatment services to youth in a residential setting. Duties include but are not limited to administering assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, conducting individual, group and family counseling.

Essential Functions

In addition to consistent and reliable attendance, the following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be considered as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required or assigned.

In collaboration with Juvenile Probation Departments, provides individualized services for youth in placement.

Prepares treatment plans, case review documentation, along with a comprehensive discharge summary.

Maintain a case load of assigned residents conducting weekly individual sessions, monthly family counseling sessions, a Parent Support group, as well as facilitation of an assigned group.

On an occasional and as needed basis is directly responsible for supervision of residents during daily activities. This applies to crisis intervention techniques appropriate to the situation and in accordance with JRC policy.

Maintain a current working knowledge of Juvenile Residential Center policy, procedure and practices.

Required Qualifications

Possess a Master's degree in Professional Counseling or Social Work with Ohio Licensure. This requirement may be waved in lieu of a bachelor's degree in social work with prior counseling experience. Demonstrates practical knowledge of the juvenile justice system; is knowledgeable of effective treatment programs for youth in need of sexual behavior treatment, with an understanding of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is dependent upon education, licensure and prior experience. The facility offers comprehensive benefits which includes medical, prescription drug, dental and vision insurance.
