This Research Technician role within the 4-CYTE Collaboratory, Department of Biomedical Sciences, plays a vital role in executing molecular and cellular biology experiments, including DNA cloning, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and invitro assays such as ELISA and western blot. The position involves small rodent surgeries, histological analysis, and rigorous documentation to ensure data integrity and reproducibility. The incumbent also manages lab supplies and equipment, adheres to safety and ethical standards, and communicates findings to the research team. Additionally, the role includes supervising student employees and contributing to protocol optimization and data preparation for publications.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Day-to-day hands-on operational molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry experiments. Candidate will be responsible for following established protocols and standard operating procedures, regularly calibrating and maintaining laboratory equipment, and conducting quality checks on reagents and samples. Adherence to all laboratory health and safety guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and safe disposal of hazardous materials, is required, as is compliance with institutional and project-specific ethical regulations.



2. Will perform small rodent surgeries and post-surgical care, as well as histological analysis as required.



3. Record keeping and documentation related to all protocols/experiments performed by the employee. The candidate will maintain meticulous laboratory notebooks and documentation to ensure the reproducibility and integrity of all results.



4. The candidate will be responsible for managing laboratory supplies, lab equipment, organizing samples and reagents, and staying informed about new developments in relevant scientific techniques.



5. Candidate will communicate progress, challenges, and results clearly to the principal investigator and the research team, contribute to troubleshooting and optimizing experimental protocols, and assist in preparing data for reports and publications.



6. Responsible for the supervision of student employees which includes but is not limited to hiring, training, disciplinary actions, ending the student's assignment, etc.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Neurobiology, Neuroscience, Biochemistry or Molecular Biology.



Required experience with basic neuroscience and cell biology knowledge.



Required experience with molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry techniques.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Hands-on research experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, or a related discipline
