Position Summary:



The Center for Solar-Terrestrial Research (CSTR) at the New Jersey Institute of Technology invites applications for a Research Scientist position to carry out research in solar radio physics. The appointment is initially for one year, with the possibility of renewal contingent upon the availability of funding. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.



Essential Functions:



Support science operations of the Owens Valley Solar Arrays (OVSA). Develop data processing tools and software for OVSA. Conduct original research in solar radio physics using data from OVSA and other complementary instruments. Engage in the dissemination of the results of the research, for example, prepare papers for publication in scientific journals, and prepare and present findings at professional conferences.


Prerequisite Qualifications:



Successful applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in physics, astrophysics, space physics, or a closely related field. At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.


Preferred Qualifications:



Expertise in radio interferometry and synthesis imaging. Proficient in Linux/Unix operating systems, Python programming language, and software development.

Salary Information:



In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the negotiated starting annual salary for this position is $49,786 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
