Job Description

This position provides technical laboratory research and facility supervision support to the ElectroScience Laboratory (ESL) complex; coordinates technical operations to assure effective and efficient use of research facilities and equipment within ESL; oversees facility maintenance; responsible for overseeing upgrades and renovation by leading the selection process of potential vendors through the request and review of proposals; serves as primary interface with internal and external facilities contacts, contractors and/or vendors, such as Facilities and Operations Development (FOD), SciTech, and Colliers International, for each of the OSU owned and externally owned ESL buildings; initiate contracts for the compact range; work with outside vendors to establish service agreements; work with the Engineering Research Administration (ERA) contracts personnel to determine service agreement terms and conditions; serves as ESL's Export Control coordinator working with faculty, researchers, students and Office of Secure Research on writing, controlling and maintaining Technology Control Plans (TCP) required for all export-controlled projects at ESL; manages building access requests and administers and coordinates office and research space; develops and implements internal processes, including enhancement and maintenance of standard training processes across labs and development of onboarding processes for employees and lab users as regulations may change; responsible for installation of sensitive research equipment in compliance with all local, state, and national codes and standards, e.g.: OSHA , EPA, Export Control and ITAR, etc.; manages the fiscal and administrative activities of the facilities operations; provides direction and problem solving assistance with building issues; oversees and maintains necessary documentation for ESL's emergency preparedness; coordinates with college Facilities Manager and Safety Officer and college Health and Safety Coordinator, as necessary; supervises student workers supporting front desk and facilities operations; manages the on-boarding and off-boarding of all graduate and undergraduate students; maintains inventory and asset management of experimental facilities, equipment and instrumentation and oversees asset management of capital equipment and inventory for the lab; acts as Equipment Coordinator and administers policies established by the University and ESL; represents ESL to the University, and serves as the primary building tour administrator; assists in the coordination and execution of on-site/off-site meetings and events; coordinates applicable committee support for ESL PIs and student committees, including scheduling, tracking initiatives and goals, and keeps director abreast of committees progress and needs



This position will require access to export-controlled data and work in an export-controlled facility. Eligibility for this position is restricted to "U.S. persons" as defined in U.S. export control regulations. "U.S. persons" include: (1) U.S. citizens or nationals; (2) permanent residents; (3) asylees or refugees; or (4) individuals otherwise described as "protected individuals" pursuant to Title 8 U.S. Code Section 1324b(a)(3)(b).

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience



Experience:



Required:

2 years of experience, facilities and equipment management experience, preferably in a university or academic research environment.



Desired:

Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulatory and safety requirements; experience with facility safety and regulatory compliance protocols.



The target hiring range for this job profile is $55,700- $72,700. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc
