Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Nurse, Pediatrics Oncology Clinical Trials. In this role, the successful candidate serves as a nurse observer in studies of patient clinical response and the therapeutic efficacy of drugs and other measure that are carried out as both a means of teaching identified goals of patient care and clinical research. The Research Nurse will be involved in all aspects of clinical trials, from development and recruitment, to patient education and reporting.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serving as a central point of contact for research patients trials, from initial introduction to a study until they complete a trial.
  • Developing new research tools based on protocols in partnership with physicians and researchers.
  • Recruiting patients for clinical trials and verifying eligibility.
  • Educating families and patients about their options and study details. This includes providing information on timelines, procedures, drugs being used, anticipated side effects, and documenting symptoms.
  • Guiding patients through the study consent process.
  • Following patients recruited to a clinical trial or study through their treatment, making sure they attend all necessary visits as per protocol and that all necessary data is collected at each visit.
  • Assessing patients\xe2\x80\x99 health and reviewing adverse events or treatment toxicities.
  • Updating and managing research and enrollment information in trial database(s), and reporting data to sponsors.
  • Responsible for coordinating all of the outside testing of our patients\xe2\x80\x99 samples that are required for accurate diagnosis and identification of therapeutic targets.
  • Responsible for working with family, clinical team, and medical secretary team to ensure all appropriate appointments are scheduled per protocol requirements (labs, physician encounter, scans, etc), as well as collecting all historical documents and tests for patients including pathology results, eye exams, scans, etc. for all potential research patients.
  • Responsible for providing initial training and all follow-up training to study team personnel for investigational trials to ensure that everyone involved in the trial is fully up-to-date on the study protocol and study regulations
  • The research nurse will work with all faculty along with the NPs, RNs, medical secretaries and clinical trials team as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify you must have a NYS RN License with current registration. Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Bachelor\'s Degree in Nursing, or equivalent combination of education and experience with plans to earn a baccalaureate degree in Nursing. Prior RN experience in a clinical setting preferred. Experience working with specific indications (department-specific). Minimum of 3 years of related experience. Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook. Familiar with Internet applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills, and strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and work and communicate effectively with both internal and external customers. Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently. Commitment to continuous learning as required by department administration. Ability to make decisions independently. Ability to manage time, multi task and prioritize work. Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems; ability to work well under pressure.

Preferred Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYS

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor\'s Degree in Nursing is highly preferred. Prior RN experience in a clinical setting and/or experience coordinating clinical/research trials studies is preferred.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $74,500.00 - $107,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
