Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Coordinator. We are seeking a Research Coordinator to serve as an overall research staff administrator for Dr. Robin Ortiz Principal Investigator (PI) of intergenerational health equity studies. Her studies aim to improve the health of adults who are caregivers of children, as a means to also improve the health of their children. The main focus of this work is cardiovascular health. The RC will report to the Program Manager and supervisor the research assistants and will work with a project community health worker. The RC will work along with the study team and study PI to handle grant administration including grant reporting, budget management and working with the institution\'s sponsored programs administration. The RC will coordinate staff schedules to ensure proper coverage of assessments, track assessments, and be the primary contact for the Institutional Review Board. The RC will assist the study team and PI on general data management, and will also be available to screen and enroll eligible subjects, and follow up with study subjects when needed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Project Coordination: Provides moderate to advanced coordination for program activities while working/communicating with internal and external parties to organize and coordinate the various components needed to initiate, run and conclude project activities.
  • Staff scheduling and coordinating: The RC will meet with the study team weekly to coordinate staff schedules and ensure proper coverage of assessments.
  • Data Management: Keeps track of assessments completion by updating the project database. The RC will ensure the accuracy of study data and medical chart review data entered into a database (REDCap).
  • Research Activities: Oversee the RDAs who will conduct study recruitment including screening potential patients/participants for eligibility and completing informed consent process and assessments on study subjects/patients as part of the research study. Ability to conduct any aspect of the research activities when needed. Data collection involves interviews with participants, the collection of physical assessments (blood pressure, weight, height, waist circumference, other), and chart reviews-abstraction of data from the patient charts, for example. The RC will oversee record keeping and organization including tracking patients and IRB materials along with the RDAs. The RC will be involved in some data analyses when needed.
  • Grants: Assists PI (and RDAs as appropriate) in the preparation of grant applications and related activities such as grant proposals. Collects and organizes required paperwork for submission if applicable. Assists in grant continuation reports.
  • IRB: Primary contact for the Institutional Review Board (IRB). Responsible for the preparation and submission of IRB materials including amendments, updates and renewals, and tracking of study team certificates and materials.
  • Study Regulations binder - Aware of study regulatory status and keeps an up to date copy of regulatory documents.
  • Financial: Approves daily purchases through PeopleSoft, orders supplies, participant incentives and maintains inventory. May process staff reimbursement and submit invoices for subcontractors and vendors as appropriate.
  • Budget: Keeps accurate records of spending and assist PIs with reviewing sponsor-proposed budget for adequate coverage and recommend changes as appropriate. Monitor budget throughout trial.
  • Project Support: Assists in the recruitment, hiring and training of Research Staff, interns and volunteers for the research study. Reviews workflow and recommends improvement if applicable.
  • Continuous Learning: Position requires ongoing continuing education in all areas of research development. It is expected that the employee demonstrates proof of ongoing research education on a yearly basis. Training programs are provided through the SOM
  • Other: Coordinate other meetings, conference calls, and site visits with collaborators and consultants. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required.
  • Location: Hybrid work, which will involve travel to locations on Manhattan and/or Brooklyn NYU Langone Health campuses.
  • Fluency in Spanish (spoken and written) required.
Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify you must have a Bachelor\'s degree in life sciences, allied health or equivalent in a related discipline and 0-1 years experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Effective oral, written, communication, interpersonal skills. Must be able to work under the direction of supervision. Ability to operate research related equipment. Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook. Familiar with Internet applications. Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems. Time management skills and ability to work well under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters degree in a related field. Prior experience with IRB protocol development and oversight, grant administration. Flexible working hours, including weeknights.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58,500.00 - $58,500.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
