Best Practice\xe2\x80\x99s is seeking an early-to-mid career healthcare consultant to lead our pharmaceutical services research, consulting, and data analytics group. This Director or Vice President-level role (depending on your experience and proven talents) is a Coach & Player position leading and mentoring a talented group of operations research consultants. This group conducts primary field research and consulting for biopharma clients in Medical Affairs and Commercial Operations. Services include proprietary benchmark studies, custom research and consulting, performance-improvement projects, multi-client meetings, roundtable discussion facilitation, and other analytic and advisory services. This person oversees a group of 6 to 10 consultants and analysts. The person should be comfortable engaging with Vice President and Director-level clients to discuss and advise on diverse operational issues challenging biopharmaceutical companies. This leader should enjoy providing coaching, counsel and guidance to our consulting analysts who have MBAs, MA\xe2\x80\x99s, BAs, and conduct operational research for clients.

Research & Consulting Leadership Role

Best Practice\xe2\x80\x99s Research & Consulting Services Leader oversees all aspects of our firm\xe2\x80\x99s research, consulting, and membership services organization. This practice group conducts field research and consulting for biopharma Commercial Operations and Medical Affairs clients focused on new product launches, marketing, sales, commercial excellence, and Medical Affairs excellence . Client projects are led by subject experts, are team-based, and involve staff from across our US and India operations. This group leader should be comfortable engaging consultants on their growth, project management, analysis, data storytelling, client services, problem solving, and recommendations. This group head should have a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude toward coaching and be ready to join in client meetings, engage with staff in complex problem solving, data analytics, sales support, and executive presentation development. Flexibility in directing, coaching, mentoring, encouraging, and conducting staff analysis is a critical success factor for this job. The role is personally rewarding, collaborative, rich with learning, and broad-reaching in terms of topics, and access to our accounts and clients. The person leading this group might expect to allocate her/his time across three broad areas:

  • 50% Directing, Supporting, Conducting Research, Consulting, and Client Meetings
  • 25% General Management of staff (coaching, supporting, training, growing younger staff members and reviewing work with them)
  • 25% sales support to win new clients and grow existing member relationships by supporting Business Development Account Executives as subject matter experts.
Winning Character Traits, Experience and Expertise for this Group Leader:
  • 5 to 15 years of research, consulting, and analytics experience on the vendor and/or client side of biopharma / medical device companies
  • Comfort in data analysis, data-led storytelling, competitive intelligence, marketing analytics, and business problem solving.
  • Experience with biopharmaceutical commercial operations, competitive intelligence, market analytics/market research, brand marketing, or medical affairs operations.
  • A resilient, \xe2\x80\x9cget-it-done,\xe2\x80\x9d \xe2\x80\x9cresults matter\xe2\x80\x9d personality.
  • Comfort in managing in a consulting, data-intensive services, knowledge-based product environment.
  • Preference for working in teams and collaborating with colleagues.
  • Passion for learning, growing, and developing oneself and others.
  • Must be curious and comfortable with experimentation to allow change.
  • Broad-reaching business acumen that spans marketing, sales, market research/analytics, and medical affairs.
  • Management experience that will allow you to successfully coach, support, and oversee 6-10 professionals who work in a matrix environment on global teams.
  • Comfort in collaborating with Account Executives, Business Development and Sales Colleagues in a consultative sales and services environment
Education Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree required
  • Academic background in biology, chemistry, pharmacy, medicine, philosophy, economics, data analytics, genetics, finance, data-oriented journalism, or other analytically rigorous fields of study
  • Masters Level Degree (MBA or Masters of Genetics, Pharmacy, or related degree) or Ph. D are highly valued
  • Background and/or experience with medical, clinical, new product planning or commercial operations topics
  • Comfort in active and fast-paced learning environment to remain relevant
