We seek a highly motivated early-career scientist to support interdisciplinary research in HIV-associated neuroinflammation. This full-time staff position is well suited for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree and a strong foundation in biochemical or molecular lab techniques. The incumbent will support both experimental and operational aspects of an active neurovirology research program, contributing to projects involving molecular virology, drug delivery, and cellular modeling.
KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES
: Perform molecular and biochemical assays including PCR, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, HPLC, and protein purification. Support cell-based models (e.g., MCF-7, U1) used in studies of viral persistence and immune response. Maintain laboratory inventory, safety compliance documents, and experimental protocols. Analyze experimental data using software such as MATLAB, Python, or R. Contribute to research publications and grant submissions; participate in poster or oral presentations. Assist in mentoring undergraduate assistants and help coordinate collaborative projects.
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS
: Bachelor's in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, or a related field. Minimum of one year of laboratory research experience. Demonstrated proficiency in multiple lab techniques such as HPLC, PXRD, cell culture, Western blotting, or spectrophotometry. Strong communication and organizational skills. Commitment to biomedical research and interest in neurovirology, HIV, or transnational science.
PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS
Interdisciplinary background in both life sciences and quantitative analysis (e.g., mathematics, engineering). Previous experience in drug delivery systems or bio-materials. Scientific presentation experience at institutional or national meetings. Prior mentorship or involvement in STEM education outreach. Certified or trained in lab safety procedures (e.g., laser safety, pharmacy technician training, BBP/Hazmat).

CONDITIONS
: Must be willing and able to work with HIV and other bio-hazards. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required depending on experimental needs.
