RESEARCH ANALYST
Reports to: Vice President for the NAIOP Research Foundation
Type: Full Time (In Office & Remote) - required three days in the Herndon, VA office

Position Overview:
NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association based in Herndon, Virginia, is seeking a Research Analyst. The Research Analyst will be responsible for conducting research on topics related to commercial real estate development as well as drafting and editing reports published by the NAIOP Research Foundation. In addition to conducting research for internally produced publications, the Research Analyst will also work with external researchers on commissioned projects. The Research Analyst will cultivate relationships with academics and researchers and will support events hosted by the NAIOP Research Foundation.
Primary Responsibilities:
Research
Conducts research for internally produced reports, using qualitative and quantitative methodologies, including surveys, interviews, secondary research, and analysis of real estate and capital markets data
Authors or coauthors research reports and research briefs
Identifies new data sources and assists in development of new research methodologies
Oversees and supports external researchers working on commissioned reports
Edits research reports and provides formatting guidance to graphic designer
Assists with production of research deliverables in additional formats, such as interactive dashboards, social media infographics, or short videos
Assists with drafting research contracts
Writes blog entries and magazine articles related to research projects or NAIOP conferences
Reviews research-related press releases
Volunteer Outreach, Management and Collaboration
Collaborates with the NAIOP research committee, Governors, Visionaries and Distinguished Fellows to help identify research topics
Supports National Research Directors' annual event; communicates throughout the year with this group as a resource for publications and speakers at NAIOP conferences
Supports the Distinguished Fellows program for academic researchers
Supports other Research Foundation events and programs as needed
Additional Responsibilities:
Participates in NAIOP webinars as needed
Fields staff and NAIOP member questions related to research and publications
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required. Preference for a degree in real estate, finance, business administration, economics, statistics, or a related field. Advanced degree a plus.
Minimum of 5 years of research experience. Preference for research experience related to real estate, finance, economics, or market research. Experience at a trade association a plus.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, including advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with data visualization software (Tableau or Power BI)
Experience fielding online surveys and analyzing results
Proven project-management abilities
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
Ability to work independently and collaborate with internal and external teams
