Join our dynamic logistics team as a Remote 1099 Independent Freight Agent, where your expertise in transportation and supply chain management will drive success and growth. Duties
Develop and grow a robust portfolio of clients through proactive lead generation, cold calling, and networking within the logistics industry.
Manage end-to-end transportation sales processes, including quoting freight rates, negotiating contracts, and closing deals with shippers, carriers, and 3PL providers.
Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS), CRM software, EDI (Electronic Data Interchange), and AS400 platforms to track shipments, update records, and ensure seamless communication across all parties.
Coordinate transportation planning by selecting optimal carriers, managing dispatching activities, and ensuring compliance with FDA regulations and other industry standards.
Maintain detailed data entry for shipments, contracts, pricing agreements, and carrier information to ensure accuracy and transparency.
Foster strong customer relationships by providing exceptional account management and ongoing support to meet their evolving logistics needs.
Collaborate with carriers and internal teams to optimize freight routes, improve transit times, and reduce costs through effective negotiation and strategic planning.
Stay informed about industry trends such as B2B sales strategies, 3PL services, NVOCC operations (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier), and transportation sales techniques to enhance your effectiveness.
Support inside sales efforts by generating new leads through various channels while nurturing existing accounts for repeat business.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations including FDA guidelines while managing freight pricing strategies and contract negotiations.
Skills
Proven experience in supply chain management, transportation management systems (TMS), or logistics sales roles.
Strong understanding of the entire supply chain process from freight quoting to delivery execution.
Excellent customer relationship management (CRM) skills with the ability to build trust and long-term partnerships.
Demonstrated success in B2B sales environments with a focus on freight or logistics services.
Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS), EDI platforms, AS400 software, and CRM tools for efficient data handling.
Skilled negotiator capable of securing favorable contracts while maintaining positive carrier relationships.
Knowledge of transportation planning, dispatching procedures, freight pricing strategies, and carrier sales techniques.
Familiarity with 3PL operations, NVOCC functions, FDA regulations applicable to freight shipping, and logistics compliance standards.
Strong organizational skills including data entry accuracy and contract management.
