The Relief Worker provides primary care to the group home residents when full-time staff is unavailable. They are individuals in pursuit of a career in child welfare, either in the clinical, administrative, or social work fields. Their primary purpose is to provide the client with a consistent, positive, safe, and nurturing environment. Relief workers are in charge of the supervision of clients and are likened to the floor managers of production facilities. Relief worked may be called upon to cover any of the residential positions and are considered "as needed" employees, as there are no guaranteed relief hours.
