THIS POSITION WILL BE DOMICILED AT THE LRS STATE OFFICE IN BATON ROUGE, LA.

Position Information
This position may be filled as either a Probational or a Job Appointment (open to all qualified applicants); a Promotion (open to all statewide classified and Agency-wide permanent status employees); or by Detail to Special Duty. Current permanent status, classified employees may be required to accept a Probational appointment if selected. If filled as a Job Appointment, there is a possibility that this position may be converted to a Probational Appointment should funding become available.

No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for these vacancies.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A baccalaureate degree plus three years of professional level experience in social services, teaching, counseling, guidance and therapy, rehabilitation instruction, rehabilitation evaluation, or worker\'s compensation dispute resolution, two years must have been in rehabilitation work.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

A baccalaureate degree in rehabilitation counseling will substitute for the one year of required general experience.

A master\'s degree in any field will substitute for the one year of required general experience.

Specialized and advanced degrees will substitute for a maximum of one year of the required general experience.

NOTE:

There is no substitution for the degree.

NOTE:
Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.

To coordinate and control a specific component of a major rehabilitation program.

Level of Work:

Advanced.

Supervision Received:

General from a Rehabilitation Bureau Administrator or Rehabilitation Program Manager.

Supervision Exercised:

Functional authority over a program component within a rehabilitation program.

Location of Work:

May be used by state agencies with rehabilitation counseling functions.

Job Distinctions:

Differs from Rehabilitation Program Coordinator by the absence of overall responsibility for a major rehabilitation program.

Examples of Work

Plans, coordinates, and implements specific initiatives and special projects as they relate to a component of a major rehabilitation program.

Develops and implements procedures for specific program components.

Conducts employee and consumer attitude surveys, needs assessments and public hearings concerning Louisiana Rehabilitation Services policy and operations.

Trains agency personnel regarding implementation of major program modifications, procedures and policies.

Participates on task forces and committees to revise rules, regulations and procedures to comply with changes in law and policy.

Analyzes the impact of federal, state and local legislation, advises agency officials and prepares position statements for agency administrators.

Confers with government officials, educators, private officials, and professionals on matters relative to a specific component of program responsibility.
