**Join Our Rehab Team as a Student Extern!**
Are you a passionate student pursuing a career in physical or occupational therapy? UPMC Washington is excited to offer a unique opportunity for a Rehab Student Extern to gain hands-on experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Under the direct supervision of licensed PTs and OTs, you'll work alongside a dedicated team committed to delivering life-changing care. This casual position is ideal for students looking to expand their clinical knowledge while making a meaningful impact on patient recovery.
Responsibilities:

• Observes and assists Therapists with patient care throughout treatment program.
• Assists Therapists in use and care of machinery and equipment.
• Assists for safety purpose with transfers, transport, treatment preparation, and ambulation of patients under direct supervision of Rehabilitation Therapists (OT, PT, Speech).
• Assists in maintaining a clean and orderly working area.
• Maintains state of the art knowledge of discipline specific skills, techniques, and job-related duties and responsibilities.
• Attends continuing education courses, workshops, and seminars ae required.

Schedule: Rotating days, weekends and holidays. Shifts include: 8:30AM-3:30PM, 9:30AM-3:30PM, 8AM-11AM, 8:30AM-11:30AM. Will rotate working in our inpatient units with PT's/OT's as well as at our outpatient rehab center at the Cameron Wellness Center in Washington, PA.

• High school diploma, GED equivalent, or current high school senior and 18 years of age required.
• Acceptance/attendance at a post-secondary educational institution in a health related/science field required. PT, OT, Speech, or Rehab field preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

• BLS certification or achievement within thirty (30) days of employment required.

BLS required within 30 days of hire/transfer.

• Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
• Act 33 with renewal
• Act 34 with renewal
• Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
