Job Title: Physical Rehabilitation CVT

Job Summary: Under the supervision of the practice manager, rehabilitation DVM, and neurologist, the CVT will be responsible for the care of neurologic patients and clients. The CVT will assist the neurologist or DVM with examinations, physical rehabilitation assessments and plans, and perform physical rehabilitation treatments/procedures. The CVT will also perform diagnostics, educate clients, participate in surgery and the care of ICU patients as needed.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Manage physical rehabilitation appointment intake and assist in scheduling appointments
Maintain underwater treadmill and all other rehab equipment
Assist with treatments for physical rehabilitation patients including, preparing patients for the underwater treadmill, perform underwater treadmill sessions, and dry work
Record accurate medical and neurologic histories
Perform venipuncture and proper restraint for neurologic patients
Conduct in-house diagnostics using laboratory equipment, including manual tests such as platelet counts, white cell counts, and urinalysis
Perform diagnostic radiographs
Anesthesia
Calculate, administer, and record injections, oral medications, fluid rates, and continuous rate infusions
Set-up and break down for surgeries as needed
Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are sterilized and functional
Accurately record and fill prescriptions
Prepare animals for surgery and procedures as needed (e.g., joint taps, cerebral spinal fluid taps)
Properly handle and ship lab samples
Update clients on their hospitalized patient
Educate clients on neurologic disorders, patient care, and physical rehabilitation plans
Discharge patients from hospital
Answer client calls
Maintain hospital cleanliness, instruments, and equipment
Assist in euthanasia procedures as needed
Support team development and train new team members
Assist patients with their physical rehabilitation procedures/treatments
Perform other job-related duties assigned by practice manager, neurologist, or DVM
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Associate of Applied Science Degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA accredited school
Prior work in veterinary physical therapy preferred, but not required
Certified in the state of Minnesota
Fundamental understanding of anesthetic medications, including their uses and effects
Basic knowledge of medications used within veterinary medicine
Advanced math skills
Exhibit strong punctuality, time management, and prioritization skills
Demonstrated ability to work both within a team and individually
Proven ability to communicate respectfully, positively, and effectively with team members, referring clinics, and clients Exceptional problem-solving skills
Skilled in digital record keeping methods and email
Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as assigned
Working Conditions:
Veterinary office environment
Frequent interaction with animals and their owners

4 or 5-day work week 30-minutes paid lunch break
Participation in rotating holiday schedule and on-call (on-call is Friday, Saturday, Sunday 8am - 8pm)

Compensation and Benefits:
Hourly rate: $26-38/hr
On-call fee: $150/case
