Regulatory Compliance Specialist (temporary 3 4 Months)

Job Description

The Regulatory Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with global regulatory requirements related to chemical safety documentation and product labeling. This role oversees the creation, maintenance, and distribution of Safety Data Sheets (SDS), product labels, and associated hazard communication materials to support product stewardship and regulatory compliance. Must be willing to travel between our Somerville, and our Burlington, NJ locations. This is a temporary role with 40 hour work week for approximately 3 - 4 months.

Key Responsibilities:



Develop, review, and maintain Safety Data Sheets in accordance with OSHA Hazard Communication Standard, GHS, REACH, WHMIS and other applicable regulations. Ensure timely updates to SDS based on formulation changes, regulatory updates, or new hazard information. Manage SDS authoring software and maintain accurate databases. Product Labeling Compliance: Create and update product labels to meet global regulatory requirements (GHS pictograms, hazard statements, precautionary statements). Collaborate with marketing and packaging teams to ensure accurate and compliant labeling. Monitor regulatory changes impacting labeling requirements and implement updates proactively.

Regulatory Compliance & Documentation:




Stay current on international chemical regulations and hazard communication standards. Support audits and inspections by providing accurate documentation and compliance evidence. Maintain records of SDS and labeling activities for internal and external reporting.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:



Work closely with R&D, Quality, EHS, and Supply Chain teams to ensure product safety information is accurate and accessible.


Provide training and guidance on SDS and labeling requirements to internal stakeholders.


Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Regulatory Affairs, or related field. 3+ years of experience in SDS authoring and product labeling within a regulated industry (chemicals, manufacturing, consumer goods).


Strong knowledge of GHS, OSHA, REACH, WHMIS, and other global hazard communication standards. Proficiency with SDS authoring tools and regulatory databases. Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Skills:



Experience with multilingual SDS and labeling requirements. Familiarity with ERP systems and product lifecycle management tools. * Strong communication and training skills.
