This position performs a variety of functions relative to the collection of delinquent taxes, interest, and penalties which are owed to the Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) by researching, analyzing, and investigating business entities that owe outstanding Unemployment Insurance (UI) debt in order to determine and initiate appropriate collection and legal action.
Methods of investigation and methods used by this position may include, but are not limited to, analyzing complex data which includes computer records, internet websites, employer books, financial data etc., conducting field visits and interviews, meeting with and/or communicating with employers and their representatives, using collection methods such as bank levies, TOP tax intercepts, and referrals for legal action, identifying and preserving evidence (documents), formulating investigative plans, conducting surveillance, and preparing detailed reports of findings.

Required Education and Experience

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
Experience

Regulation Agent 10
One year of professional experience providing regulation and investigative services equivalent to a Regulation Agent 9.
Regulation Agent P11
Two years of professional experience providing regulation and investigative services equivalent to a Regulation Agent, including one year equivalent to a Regulation Agent 10.
Alternate Education and Experience

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.
OR
Two years of experience as an investigator or detective in a law enforcement, US Armed Services, or private agency conducting criminal investigations or corporate investigations including fraud, embezzlement, and security threats may be substituted for the education and experience required at the entry level; three years of such experience may be substituted at the intermediate level; four years of such experience may be substituted at the experienced level, and five years of such experience may be substituted at the advanced level.

Salary for this position is entirely federally funded. Under federal law an employee whose salary is entirely federally funded may not be a candidate for public office in a partisan election.
