Full Time M-F plus call

Departmental Description
The Patient Placement Center completes the admission process for all patients being admitted to University Medical Center from private Physician Clinics, Physician Network Services, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Emergency Center, and from other outlying facilities.

The Patient Placement Center enters patient demographics in IDX and verifies all private insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid to evaluate eligibility for each admission. The Patient Placement Center secures rooms for all admissions to University Medical Center. The Patient Placement Center serves all areas of Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and any other area requesting services at University Medical Center hospital.

The Patient Placement Center is staffed 24/7 with non-licensed and licensed personnel.
The Patient Placement Center consists of a Nursing Director, non-clinical staff who work as Patient Access Associates and Transfer Center specialists, and licensed nursing staff who work as Nursing/House Supervisors and Patient Placement Coordinators.

• Plans, supervises and evaluates patient care and nursing personnel of nursing units on a 24-hour basis. In compliance with the Philosophy of the Department of Nursing, will be responsible for operations of a specific nursing unit to ensure quality care, competent and responsible personnel management and cost efficient and effective utilization of unit resources. Functions within the framework of established philosophies and objectives of University Medical Center and Nursing Service. Assists department director as needed. Has a working knowledge of organizational and nursing policies.

Qualifications

MSN Required
BLS Required
ALS Required
4 Years of Professional Nursing Experience
Minimum of 2 years as Nursing House Supervisor
Supervisory experience required
Registered with the Texas State Board of Nursing or holds a recognized
compact state licensure
