Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced

Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

to join the Observation Unit. This fast-paced unit operates as a bridge between the Emergency Department and inpatient units, managing patients requiring additional testing, treatment, or monitoring prior to discharge or admission.



The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, possess strong critical thinking skills, and be capable of managing a diverse patient population with varying levels of acuity.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring observation, ongoing evaluation, and treatment. Collaborate closely with the Emergency Department and dedicated observation physicians to ensure continuity of care. Monitor and interpret telemetry readings, vital signs, and laboratory results. Administer medications, perform treatments, and maintain accurate documentation. Respond to rapid changes in patient condition using sound clinical judgment. Coordinate discharge planning and communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams. Maintain compliance with all safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications:

Experience:

Minimum

18 months of recent Med-Surg/Telemetry experience

in an acute care setting preferred. First-time travelers are accepted.

Education:

Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program (

ASN required; BSN preferred

).

Licensure & Certifications:

Active New York RN License

(must be in hand at time of submission).

BLS - AHA

(Required).

ACLS - AHA

(Preferred).

Preferred Skills & Attributes:

Strong multitasking abilities in a high-volume unit. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities. Experience working directly with Emergency Department teams.
