Title: Registered Nurse

Location: Pinon, AZ

Duration: Long term

Nursing Duties:

\xc2\xb7 The Contractor shall perform Nursing duties as described, identified by the Service Unit and as directed by Supervisor.

\xc2\xb7 The Contractor shall perform in accordance with the competency standards.

\xc2\xb7 The Contractor shall provide comprehensive, skilled, and competent nursing care specific to the age of the patients (neonate, infant, school-age, adolescent, adult and geriatric), based on nursing assessment, the nursing process, the of care, where condition and treatments can range from non-critical to critical.

\xc2\xb7 The Contractor must have knowledge of the nursing process and its application to clinical practice in order to provide individualized, goal-oriented nursing care to the neonate, infant, school-age, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient(s).

\xc2\xb7 The Contractor must have knowledge of scientific and psychosocial nursing theory, principles, practices, and techniques in order to plan and provide-quality nursing care which meets the physical, spiritual, and social-cultural needs of the Indian patient.

\xc2\xb7 The Contractor must have knowledge of biological aspects of disease processes and illness in order to recognize complications and implement appropriate therapeutic interventions required.

\xc2\xb7 The Contractor must have knowledge of the medications and dosages in order to recognize their desired effects, side-effects, and complications of their use.

\xc2\xb7 The Contractor must have the ability to analyze the results of various medical procedures and translate them into appropriate nursing interventions.

\xc2\xb7 The Contractor must have the ability to work effectively and harmoniously within the health care team and with Indian patients and their families.

\xc2\xb7 The Contractor follows facility policies and procedures, Joint Commission, OSHA, IHS, and other federal licensing, accreditation and regulating body standards.

\xc2\xb7 The Contractor operates and mentors specialized equipment such as respiratory equipment, thematic deceives, suction devices, defibrillator, electrocardiographs, etc., reports malfunctions to Bio-Med and /or Maintenance as needed.

\xc2\xb7 The Contractor interviews patients, family members, and others to appropriately determine triage classification: determines and evaluates appropriate interventions for patients in life threatening situations.

\xc2\xb7 The Contractor administers therapeutic measure as prescribed by the provider including mediations, intravenous fluids, blood products, respirator treatments, assist with various procedures i.e. splinting, sutures, preparing the patient, assisting during the procedure and evaluating patient outcomes post-procedures.

\xc2\xb7 The Contractor imitates and participated in patient education. Provides counseling and teaching to patients and families or surrogates on preventive, curative and rehabilitative measures involved in health care.

\xc2\xb7 Inter-Facility Transports

Work Schedule:

The contractor shall work 100% of the contracted hours. The contractor shall work Monday to Friday 8 am to 6pm, Thursday afternoons from 1pm to 6pm, with one hour lunch every day totaling 40 hours a week scheduled by the SCN.

Work Flexibility: As directed by the Supervisor, the Contractor shall rotate into other duty sections as needed to support patient care.

Work schedule times will be based on the request of Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility/Pinon Health Center nursing department. Other work station will be at Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility.

Overtime: The Contractor shall be subject to working longer hours if patient load demands are present and rotating shifts to provide coverage in the Outp (if necessary to work at CCHCF Outpatient and Inpatient Departments Sunday to Saturday 40 hours).

Approval of leave is contingent upon availability of a qualified replacement.

The Contractor shall obtain approval of the department Supervisor or designee prior to any absence from work. If the length of the absence exceeds eight (8) work hours the Contractor shall request at least fifteen (15) days, (the exception is verifiable emergencies) in advance of the desired absence.

The Contractor shall provide written documentation from a qualified health care provider for absences of three (3) or more consecutive days, due to illness, stating:

The cause of the current illness or incapacitation AND B. Indicating the Contractor as contagious or non-contagious.

The Government reserves the right to examine and or re-examine any Contractor who meets the criteria.

Management of Medical Information: The Contractor shall manage all patient information in accordance with HIPAA standards, Privacy Act, and IHS Service Unit and/or Health Center specific policies and protocols.

Medical Records and Other Required Documentation: 100% percent of all medical records and other required documentation meets established IHS Medical Facility, Joint Commission, and CMS standards to include, but are not limited to, timeliness, legibility, accuracy, content, date, time, signature and designated profession.

The Contractor shall ensure adherence to DHHS IT system security policies and procedures. The IT policies and procedures will be made available to the Contractor.

The Contractor shall immediately report to the Contracting Officer or COR any information or circumstances that may violate any statute, policy, or procedure.

IHS Information Technology Systems:

In performance of this contract, the Contractor shall adapt to and successfully utilize IHS information technology systems that are deemed by the Supervisor as necessary for acceptable contractor performance.

The Contractor shall ensure that IHS information technology system security policies and procedures are adhered to. The IT policies and procedures will be made available to the Contractor at each IHS facility.

Contractor Qualification Requirements:

Experience: The Contractor shall have thirty-six (36) months of nursing experience and/or ER experience with a minimum of twelve months (12) in the specialty required by the contract, unless otherwise approved by the Contracting Officer.

Level of Professional Development:

Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the designated State accrediting agency at the tie the program was completed by the applicant.

Applicants must have active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Experience that equips the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

License/Registration: All nurses shall possess a current, valid, unrestricted nursing License in a state, the District of Columbia, the commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States through the term of this contract.

The Contractor shall follow the same rules/regulations as a federal employee while driving a GSA or being a passenger in a GSA vehicle.

The contractor shall have official use using a GSA vehicle from Pinon Health Center to duty station at Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility and returning to Pinon Health Center.

Certifications: Mandatory Current Basic Life Support (BLS). The Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is Mandatory for Urgent Clinic Coverage. The Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) is optional.

Health Requirements/Conditions of Employment:

Medical Evaluation: The Contractor shall provide a fitness for duty certificate issued by a licensed physician to perform the proposed job without significant risk to personal health or the health and safety of others.

Immunization-The Contractor shall also provide the following documentation:

Hepatitis A - 2 dose series at 0 and 6 months.

Hepatitis B - 3 dose series at 0, 1, and 6 months or documented immunity. A signed declination of Hepatitis B vaccination series will be accepted.

Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) - 2 doses or titer documentation.

Varicella (chickenpox) 2 doses, titer documentation or history of varicella/shingles.

Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap/Td) - 1 dose of Tdap, then tetanus (Td) booster every 10 years thereafter.

Meningococcal - Two vaccines (MenACWY and MenB) recommended for microbiologists routinely exposed to N. meningitidis.

Documentation of annual TB test- may include Mantoux TB skin test (PPD). All new employees will require the 2 step TST. Acceptable lab esting: Quantiferon Gold or T-Spot test. For positive TB test results, please submit a copy of recent chest x-ray results.

Influenza - MANDATORY annual vaccination

Language Requirements and Cultural Awareness: The Contractor shall read, understand, speak, and write English to effectively communicate with patients and other health care workers, and shall be respectful of the local, American Indian and Alaska Native culture.

Information Technology Skills: The Contractor shall possess basic knowledge, skills, and abilities to use a computer.

Orientation: All certified nurse providing service under this contract shall attend mandatory orientations and training specified by the government
