Duties
Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories to inform individualized care plans.
Administer medications and injections accurately, following prescribed protocols while monitoring for adverse reactions.
Manage complex medical procedures such as IV infusions, catheterizations, wound suturing, and tube feeding with precision and aseptic technique.
Utilize advanced electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth to document patient care activities comprehensively and accurately.
Perform diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection, processing, and interpretation of results to support clinical decision-making.
Provide acute pain management and assist with trauma medicine procedures in Level I or Level II trauma center environments.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and long-term care strategies to ensure seamless patient transitions.
Lead triage assessments in urgent care or emergency settings to prioritize patient needs effectively.
Deliver specialized care for diverse populations such as pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, or those with developmental disabilities or dementia.
Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols to safeguard patient confidentiality and safety.
Educate patients and families on health coaching topics including medication administration, nutrition, post-operative care, and chronic disease management.
Support hospital initiatives aligned with NCQA standards and ICD coding requirements for accurate documentation and billing purposes.
Demonstrate proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, physiology understanding, and diagnostic evaluation techniques essential for high-quality nursing practice.
Experience
Proven clinical experience in medical-surgical units within hospital or outpatient settings is required; ICU or emergency room experience is highly valued.
Demonstrated expertise in critical care procedures such as ventilator management, trauma response, or infectious disease care enhances your candidacy.
Prior work with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner is essential for efficient documentation; familiarity with Athenahealth is a plus.
Experience administering injections, performing phlebotomy/venipuncture, catheter care, sterile processing techniques, and aseptic procedures is necessary.
Background in specialized fields such as cardiology (including cardiac catheterization), nephrology (dialysis), or geriatrics (memory/care of older adults) is advantageous.
Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law related to occupational health cases adds value to your skill set.
Long-term care experience in nursing homes or assisted living facilities demonstrates your ability to manage complex chronic conditions over extended periods.
Skills in trauma medicine (Level I/II Trauma Center), post-acute care settings (hospice & palliative medicine), or pediatric/neonatal units reflect versatility in caring for vulnerable populations.
