The Registered Nurse-2, Hospital Manager, assumes leadership and responsibility for the delivery of patient care during the twelve hour-shift, including: direct and indirect supervision of nursing personnel including Staffing Office GOAs; ensures appropriate staffing of each residential unit through ongoing assessment of staffing patterns/patient acuity (in relation to staffing needs). Provides oversight and direction regarding: granted incidental annual leave as available and make daily adjustments/assignments of direct care/supervisory personnel);programmatic delivery-monitor work areas to ensure compliance with active treatment compliance with hospital policies and procedures; responses to emergency or urgent situations and maintains communication with appropriate persons, including Staffing Office Assistant Nurse Executive, Nurse Executive, Doctor on Duty, Hospital Director; coordinates and provides required training with Staff Development; conducts meetings with Registered Nurse Managers on the assigned shift to enhance nurse leadership/participation, development of management skills and consistent implementation of Standards; maintains the environment of care, ensuring security and safety in coordination with the Safety Department; serves as a resource, and provides for nursing coverage to meet operational needs; supports through positive behavior and attitude, the affirmative action plan and program of the Department of Health and Human Services and Caro Psychiatric Hospital.

Completion of a degree in nursing or nursing school educational program accepted for registered nurse licensure by the Michigan Board of Nursing.
Experience
Two years of experience equivalent to a Registered Nurse P11 or one year equivalent to a Registered Nurse 12 or a Registered Nurse Manager 12.

Possession of a master's degree in nursing may be substituted for one year of experience equivalent to a Registered Nurse P11; or, possession of a bachelor's degree in nursing may be substituted for six months of experience equivalent to a Registered Nurse P11.
