Salary Range




$68,000.00 - $120,500.00

Overview




The Department of Dermatologic Surgery is seeking a Registered Nurse with ambulatory, surgical and Dermatology experience to perform direct patient care in a busy Mohs surgical and cosmetic dermatologic practice.

Essential Duties



Direct patient care of surgical and cosmetic patients Obtain and assess vital signs, patient history, medications, and accurately log in to patient records. Present patient analysis to physicians using concise and accurate verbal communication. Patient pre and post-procedure teaching Set up for surgical and cosmetic procedures. Administer local anesthesia under the direction of the physician. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Possess initiative, flexibility, and strong organizational skills. Communicate with patients through phone calls and EPIC medical records. Maintain pathology logs. Report directly to Charge Nurse or Clinical Operations Manager Collaborate with other team members to give patients the best practice experience. Other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities





1. Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut or eligible for Connecticut licensure. Current CPR certification.

2. Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and triage skills with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

3. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and families.

4. Effective management, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently under pressure.

5. Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and related healthcare technologies.



Preferred Skills and Abilities





1. Experience in a relevant specialty such as neurology, dermatology, reproductive endocrinology, allergy and immunization, or utilization review.

2. Experience with conscious sedation procedures and teaching medical protocols to patients.

3. Advanced degree in Nursing or a related field, and certification in utilization review or care coordination.

4. Prior supervisory or management experience in a clinical setting.

5. Proficiency with EMR systems, such as EPIC, and familiarity with regulatory compliance and healthcare benefit policies.

Principal Responsibilities



1. Performs physical assessments of patients, including triage duties and advises on treatment or course of action. 2. Identifies and evaluates nursing services problems and develops and implements appropriate programs and services, including assessing staffing needs and arranging coverage as needed. 3. Develops, implements, and manages nursing care plans in collaboration with physicians. 4. Instructs patients and families in proper treatment and advises patients on health maintenance and disease prevention. 5. Provides leadership, guidance, direction to clinical staff, and collaborates with nursing at all levels. 6. Determines standards for quality assurance and infection control procedures; trains staff in universal and isolation precautions in the area of infection control. 7. Performs diagnostic and therapeutic measures in collaboration with physicians. 8. Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and nursing services. 9. Records patients' medical histories and symptoms, performs diagnostic tests and analyzes results, operates medical machinery, administers treatment and medications, and coordinates with patient follow-up and rehabilitation; assures all procedures for maintaining patient confidentiality are maintained per HIPAA guidelines. 10. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and two years' experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
