How you make a difference
As a key member of the dental team, the Dental Hygienist is responsible for promoting dental health through the completion of dental therapy and performing procedures in compliance with the dental practice act. They work under the direct supervision of the Health Services Administrator (HSA), Program Manager (PM), or higher medical professional, and play a crucial role in ensuring the provision of high-quality dental care to patients.
Key Responsibilities
Prepares treatment rooms for persons served and selects appropriate materials and equipment for dental hygiene visits based on evaluation of oral health.
Provides oral hygiene and plaque control instructions and postoperative care to educate patients and improve their overall dental health.
Maintains safe and clean working environments, adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, and ensuring the confidentiality of all patient information.
Documents all dental hygiene services and dental histories in persons served dental/medical records and conserves dental resources by using equipment and supplies as needed.
Maintains and troubleshoots dental equipment, completing preventive maintenance requirements and evaluating new equipment and techniques to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the dental practice.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
Graduate from an accredited Dental Hygienist school
Unrestricted current Dental Hygiene license, certification or registration in state of practice - must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc.
Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS certification through AHA
Current (and must maintain) lifesaving ACLS certification through AHA
