At CoBank, the Regional Vice President, Leasing provides effective leadership on behalf of CoBank within the East region of Farm Credit Leasing. Manages staff, customer relationships, marketing efforts for leases, and external relationships important to CoBank\xe2\x80\x99s mission and customers. Develops and implements business plans to include achievement of financial, credit and marketing objectives to meet desired goals. Develops a calling program for Farm Credit associations, commercial banks, and other agricultural organizations within the region.
Works with team to develop, market, and underwrite comprehensive financial solutions for customers through leasing equipment. Manages directly and indirectly the overall profitability and credit quality of a lease portfolio. Supervises the implementation of marketing and account servicing plans. Provides value-added advisory and lease structuring consultation to customers, relationship managers, and credit underwriting. Trains, develops and supports other account officers in their relationship management responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides overall leadership within the region to increase CoBank\xe2\x80\x99s profile with customers, prospects and organizations important to CoBank\xe2\x80\x99s mission. Ensures that CoBank is viewed as a trusted advisor within the region.
  • Actively manages Relationship Managers and New Business Development Officers assigned to the region.
  • Leads the marketing program for to increase CoBank market share. Develops and achieves short- and long-term marketing plans and tracks competition and marketplace changes.
  • Serves as primary liaison with Farm Credit associations and commercial banks within the region to increase the volume of business done with large integrated producers, processing/marketing companies and farm-related businesses that are not CoBank customers.
  • Develops, implements and achieves business plans and operating budgets for the region.
  • Manages pricing to achieve acceptable risk adjusted returns. Works together with credit to underwrite and manage profitable risk/return transactions with customers.
  • Advises relationship managers on structuring and pricing of leases. May have primary coverage of a limited number of key accounts.
  • Directs contact with customers, prospects and organizations that are strategically important to CoBank. Conducts customer meetings and appreciation functions within the region to ensure that CoBank is the preferred provider of loans, leases and other services with target customers and prospects.
  • Manages assigned officers and assists them in their relationships with customers. Provides leadership and guidance in relationship management and marketing techniques. Through assignments and training programs, provides developmental opportunities for staff.
  • Reviews approval or approves the extension of credit to certain accounts which require a higher level of delegated authority.
  • Works together with the Division Management to develop profitability targets for the portfolio in conjunction with bank/group profitability targets. Counsels with other account officers in the establishment of individual targets and in the ongoing achievement of such targets.
  • Participates in planning activities for the group. Contributes expertise to the process regarding areas of responsibility.
  • Implements long and short-range marketing plans and account servicing plans. Coaches account officers on achievement of plans.
  • Analyzes, structures, and obtains approval for portfolio transactions; negotiates and documents terms and conditions.
  • Manages team associates. Sets performance standards, manages workflow, evaluates performance, and recommends personnel actions within delegated authorities. Consults with Human Resources as appropriate.
  • Maintains expertise on the technical, regulatory and financial segments of assigned portfolio, keeping abreast of industry, and commodity trends and the competitive environment.
  • Participates in special projects, and performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications
    • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in finance or relevant discipline.
    • Twelve (12) years of relevant experience, including complex transactions and industry expertise, preferably in a corporate or investment banking environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Supervisor/managerial experience preferred.
  • MBA or Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a relevant discipline preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of capital markets, agribusiness finance, credit structuring and financing alternatives.
  • Knowledge of applicable agribusiness industry and commodity segments.
  • Advanced knowledge of credit structuring, loan syndications, and general corporate finance skills.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate and train a skilled team of banking professionals focused on customer service, credit delivery, and achieving desired business results.
  • Ability to manage a high work load of complex bank loan financings and effectively prioritize responsibilities and those of the team.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build and maintain effective relationships with key executives, internal team members, and external stakeholders, partners and customers.
  • Strong business acumen, management and solutions-based problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization and influence key decisions.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Availability for occasional work outside normal business hours.
  • Extensive travel (35-50%) required.
Compensation Information
  • Estimated Base Salary Range: $165,000-$200,000
  • Target short-term incentive opportunity:45%
