This at-will position provides supervision and guidance to multiple county public health nursing offices in Wyoming, ensuring they have the tools, direction, and support needed to deliver high-quality public health services.
As a key leader, you'll play an essential role in developing and mentoring staff, strengthening local teams, and helping county offices respond to their communities' unique health needs. Your leadership will influence how public health services are delivered across several Wyoming counties, touching the lives of thousands of residents through prevention programs, emergency response, and community outreach.
This position requires a balance of strategic oversight and hands-on support. You'll help shape the direction of public health nursing in Wyoming by guiding staff development, ensuring readiness for public health emergencies, and promoting evidence-based practices that improve health outcomes statewide.

Lead and develop public health teams by providing direct supervision, mentorship, and ongoing support to county public health nurse managers.
Inspire and guide staff across multiple county offices, fostering a positive, collaborative, and accountable work environment.
Oversee operations for local public health offices, ensuring they provide essential public health services that align with state and county goals.
Recruit and participate in hiring processes for nurse managers and other agency staff, helping build strong, skilled teams that reflect Wyoming's values of service and community.
Ensure preparedness and response by confirming that county offices are ready for public health emergencies and can act swiftly to protect community health.
Strengthen workforce capacity by identifying training needs, leading professional development, and ensuring staff have the knowledge and confidence to succeed.
Guide budget planning by helping county managers prepare and manage budgets responsibly and effectively.
Build and sustain partnerships with local governments, healthcare organizations, and community partners to expand the reach and impact of public health programs.
Promote evidence-based practice by collaborating with staff to design, evaluate, and implement public health programs that improve outcomes and demonstrate value to the community.
Model leadership and accountability by aligning county efforts with the goals of the Wyoming Department of Health, the Public Health Division, and the communities served.
Qualifications

PREFERENCES:
Preference will be given to a Master's degree in Nursing or Public Health, plus three years of professional work experience as a Registered Nurse (RN), including two years of professional work experience as a supervisor or administrator.
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as an RN in the State of Wyoming. Preference will be given to experience in public health nursing or similar experience.
KNOWLEDGE:
Understanding of nursing scopes of practice for various provider levels.
Knowledge of public health nursing standards, nursing processes, and the Core Functions and Essential Services of Public Health.
Familiarity with evidence-based practices, quality improvement, and performance evaluation methods.
Ability to manage budgets and contribute to financial planning.
Understanding of public health emergency preparedness.
Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
Ability to create and maintain effective community and interagency partnerships.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Nursing)
Experience:
2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Nurse Manager I
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
5-7 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Nurse Manager I
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to:
Travel throughout the state and to national conferences if requested.
Work evenings, nights and /or weekends when the situation requires it.

At-Will Employee. An employee who has no expectation of continued employment and

As a condition of employment, the successful applicant will be required to complete an Employee Health Assessment, which includes verification of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases. A background check, including the taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for every successful applicant.
