Job Summary: Leads inpatient and ambulatory nursing practice across the region in accordance with the mission, vision and values of SSM Health. Promotes nursing excellence through the continuous improvement of quality, safety, patient experience, and effectiveness of nursing practice. Promotes organizational learning, rapid dissemination of key learnings, and the sharing of knowledge and talent across the region and the SSM Health System. Promotes inter-professional collaboration through dyad and triad partnerships that ensure the coordination and standardization of best practices across the region and SSM Health System.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Aligns organizational mission, vision and values with the nursing strategic plan to improve nursing practice and organizational performance.
  • Creates a culture of clinical inquiry and nursing analytics to promote continuous improvement in empirical outcomes.
  • Facilitates clinical scholarship and practice transformation through the design and conduct of nursing research, evidence-based practice, continuous improvement and innovation. Develops effective models for partnerships between service and academia to achieve common goals such as nursing workforce growth, successful entry into practice, and clinical research.
  • Plans, directs, prioritizes, manages and monitors major systems and change processes for key priorities such as patient safety and high value health care services. Collects, analyzes and disseminates data to measure the impact of system changes, monitor improvement, and achievement of expected outcomes. Develops appropriate methods to promote, identify and disseminate clinical and management innovations through publication, presentations, and networking with key stakeholders, both internal and external to SSM Health.
  • Align initiatives around the core Magnet principles and provides overall leadership for maintaining/achieving Magnet and/or Pathways recognition for the region\'s health ministries.
  • Evaluates trends, innovations, standards, and conceptual models for impact on professional nursing practice and applicability to clinical practice within SSM Health.
  • Serves and Nursing Practice Lead for the region and communicates clinical initiatives to nursing and clinical leadership at the system and regional levels.
  • Management Accountabilities; Develops and provides directions to the ministry practice counsel leaders and teams to help ensure adoption of Evidenced Based Practice (EBP) that aligns to system standardization. Ensures that as EBP efforts are established they align with fiscal budgets at the ministry or regional levels.
  • Plans, organizes and directs all activities related to staffing, including hiring, orienting, evaluating and continuing education initiatives.
  • As an SSM Health nurse, demonstrates the professional nursing standards defined in the professional practice model. Uses the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide his/her response to the current and evolving health and nursing needs of our patients and our patient populations.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Nursing with Master\'s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
EXPERIENCE
  • Five to seven years\xe2\x80\x99 progressive nursing leadership experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Rare climbing.
