Overview


We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Referral & Authorization Coordinator to join our healthcare team. This role is essential in managing the referral and authorization processes, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations, and facilitating communication between patients, providers, and insurance companies. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in managed care and medical office operations, along with a thorough understanding of medical coding and terminology.

Duties



Coordinate and manage the referral process for patients, ensuring timely approvals and communication with healthcare providers. Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for patients prior to services being rendered. Process authorization requests in accordance with established protocols and guidelines. Maintain accurate medical records, including documentation of referrals, authorizations, and patient interactions. Utilize CPT coding, ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding systems to ensure proper billing and coding practices are followed. Communicate effectively with patients regarding their referrals and authorizations, addressing any questions or concerns they may have. Collaborate with medical staff to ensure all necessary documentation is obtained for referrals and authorizations. Stay updated on managed care policies, insurance regulations, and changes in medical coding practices.

Requirements



MUST have PAID experience Previous experience in a medical office or dental office setting is preferred. Strong knowledge of managed care processes and insurance verification procedures. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality is maintained. Proficiency in medical terminology, medical records management, and medical coding practices. Experience with CPT coding as well as ICD coding. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple tasks effectively. Strong communication skills to interact professionally with patients, providers, and insurance representatives. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
