JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Re-entry Assistant provides support for all re-entry initiatives and provides guidance to students and participants, directing them to appropriate services and support, as needed. This position supports re-entry functions with answering incoming calls and correspondence, filing, typing, scheduling, photocopying, distributing mail, and assisting with Re-entry Center maintenance and upkeep.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
Performs duties to include answering telephone; greeting visitors and directing to appropriate areas and answering general 180 Re-entry Assistance Program questions.
Maintains welcoming environment including building upkeep; assists with work orders.
Distributes daily mail and updates bulletin boards weekly.
Tracks communication from incarcerated population and maintains enrollment interest lists.
Assists with pantry maintenance and general duties.
Provides paper and electronic file updates including case noting and release verifications.
Supports Computer Center activities with internet access support and monitoring usage.
Provides support with basic needs acquisition to include public assistance applications, supportive documentation and transportation needs.
Inputs noncredit worksheet data into online system, creates flyers and types forms.
Assists with quarterly processes including enrollment, grade reporting and mailings.
Participates in various events including, but not limited to: departmental meetings, completion ceremonies, and student appreciation events.
Consistently and dependably attends work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
Effective verbal and written communications skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to use general office equipment including, but not limited to, telephone, computer, copier and scanner.
Strong multi-tasking and problem solving skills while working with a variety of personalities on a daily basis.
Ability to communicate, effectively work and interact with a diverse population, various cultures and ethnicities.
Skilled in maintaining accurate files and records while paying close attention to detail.
Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment and, at times, with limited supervision.
Knowledge and compliance of FERPA laws regarding confidentiality.
Ability to maintain a cooperative, professional demeanor in stressful situations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED.
Two (2) years of work related experience.
Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered.
Must pass a background check.
